Pretty and Pink

I (Corinne) have been bored with our blog design and have been wanting to change it for a while now but I just couldn't find one that wasn't too girly (for Paul's sake) but still looked awesome. So after much contemplation I have decided to just give up, give in, and go all out girly (as you can see). I figure if I am going to make it a little girly I might as well go all the way and make it as feminine as possible, pink flowers and all. Do you like it?!

However this means that Paul and I made a deal that the next time we change our design it is going to be super masculine. He is thinking something with motorcycles. So enjoy the girly layout for now because next up is all boy! (It's a good thing we don't make our home decorating decisions the same way we make our blog decorating decisions ;) )

kitties and doggies and sharks, OH MY!

 First animal: Kitties!!!!
There are a couple stray cats at the hotel and one of them had kittens a couple weeks ago. So naturally, I have adopted them as my own till they go to their permanent

homes. I love them. They are so adorable. I hold them just about every day. They even get a long with Rad pretty well. Here are some pics of the furry little darlings.

Next up: Doggies...namely Rad!
Rad's is almost one year old! We are pretty excited to celebrate his birthday. We found out that he loves the beach. He especially loves chasing the birds, rolling in the sand, and being able to run as much as he wants.
We got some great pictures of him at the beach...this is my favorite... I call it "Man's Best Friend." I know, original.

Last of all: Sharks!

While enjoying our drive along the beach we came across a shark! These people were fishing right from the beach. They said they caught 5 sharks that day already. It freaked me out knowing there were sharks out there so close to the shore. the shark we saw them catch was 5'7" long.

A VERY MERRY BIRTHDAY PAUL!

HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY PAUL!
That's right, Paul is now 28. We had a rockin', sweet birthday celebration for him! First of all, I made a car cake that was a replica of his favorite car that he has owned, his red MR2. He ALWAYS talks about the good old days in his MR2 and how sweet it was so I thought I would bring back the memories. I ran out of red food coloring though so it ended up being more of a pink MR2 than a red one. I am also no master cake creater (like my stepmom Nancy) so it is not that amazing but it worked.

Then we went to Peter Piper Pizza to celebrate. It was just like we were kids again. We ordered pizza, bought a bunch of tokens, and played around on all the games. My favorite was ski-ball. That game is the BEST! Then we got the jackpot on this one weird game so we were able to get a bunch of sweet prizes that are basically worthless.

I got him two seasons of Rob and Big; that MTV show, so we watched that the rest of the night. It was awesome! He has a lot to live up to for my birthday in two months! Ha ha ha jk ;)...but seriously.

Texas sized adventure!

We are officially moved in! I unpacked the last box and hung up the last picture! Here are some pics of our new place...

We are liking it here so far! We like living a the hotel because it gives us access to a swimming pool, tennis courts, a gym, and good food. Paul is enjoying his new job. Everyone has been nice and welcoming at the hotel and at our church. We are excited to find some good friends.

The temperature sits around the 70's. It is SO nice. There are lots and lots of palm trees! We went and explored the beach at South Padre. It was awesome! We are very excited to spend a lot of summer day there.
The shopping is also awesome!!!! They have just about every store ever here.

Hopefully things will continue to go well. So far so good. We like the area so far and are excited to get to know it better and like it even more. We are excited to visit some of the "close-by" cities like Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans, etc.

Come and visit anytime! We will continue to keep you updated!

"Roadtrip! Let's all go!" -Legally Blonde

lets start at the beginning...

We left Logan VERY early in the morning on February 10th. We stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming and saw the worlds largest cowboy boot! (at least the biggest that I have ever seen).

Our first night we stayed in Denver. we drove through the city the next morning and took some fun pictures. We found the worlds largest blue bear!

The second day we arrived in Texas! there was snow on the ground. We thought we were getting away from the snow but apparently not yet.

We stayed the night in Lubbock, Texas the second night. There wasn't much to do in Lubbock but we did find the world largest heart in honor of Valentines Day!

Our third day on the road we had a short drive to San Antonio. We loved it there! The freeways are really high and scary. There is one that is REALLY high and tilted so you felt like you are going to go over the edge. We spent the day enjoying the city. We went to a Mexican restaurant that was decorated really crazy! All their ceilings are decorated like this. Then we walked around the city. We saw the Alamo and then went to the river walk. The river walk is where the river runs through the city and you can walk along it; there are lots of shops and cafes along the way and you can get a boat ride down the river; like in Italy...kind of! haha. It was really pretty.

The next day we drove the four hours to Weslaco, Texas! That's it! 1,900 miles/32 hours of driving to our news home down south!

THE "NOW WHAT?" POST

WE ARE MOVING!!!

Paul got a sweet job we couldn't say no to and we are moving on February 1oth.

Where do you ask?

That is right, TEXAS! We are going to live in Weslaco. Looking at this map it is by McAllen; in the very southeast corner. We will be about 20 minutes from the border and about an hour away from the beach.

We are very excited to have great adventures in Texas and very sad to leave our wonderful life here in Utah.

We are most excited for...
  • The warm, tropical climate. the 70 degree weather they are having there right now will be a great change from the -10 degree weather we have been having in Logan.
  • The beach. Both of us have always wanted to live by the beach. If I(Corinne) could lay on the beach all day I would die a happy woman.
  • The sweet job. Paul is way excited to start his new job as assistant general manager and discontinue being a maintenance man.
  • The perks. we get free rent, free utilities cable and internet, free breakfast, the use of 3 swimming pools, a hot tub, and a fitness center.
  • The palm trees. I love them. They make me happy.
  • An hour away from South Padre Island. We are an hour away from South Padre Island which is a tropical resort island complete with surfing, dolphins, beach, a turtle reserve center (Corinne loves turtles), sailing, and anything else that comes with an island in the Gulf of Mexico .
They also have sweet shopping near by, and plenty of news stations so there is still hope of Corinne getting a sweet reporter job. It will also be a good adventure for us to have together. The experience of being completely on our own and moving away will definitely bring us closer together and make us stronger as a couple and as individuals.

What we are most sad/scared about...
  • Moving away from ALL our family and friends. We were both raised in Utah. Both of our families are here and all of our closest friends. No one has really moved out of Utah so we will basically be the only ones in the family not living here which is hard. We also both have amazing friends that we have had for a lifetime. It will be hard not to be close by.
  • Not living in Utah. We talked and talked about moving out of Utah and living somewhere way amazing but now that it is a reality it is a little different than we thought it would be. You don't realize how much you love something till it is taken away. Utah is a very beautiful, endearing place unlike any other. We will miss it.
  • Not knowing anyone. This goes along with leaving everyone but it is always scary to go somewhere where you know absolutely no one.
  • Going out of our comfort zone. It is always easier to stay where you are comfortable and familiar. Texas is neither comfortable nor familiar. But doing this is a good way to grow.
All in all, we are scared and sad but very excited. It will be hard but great! We are very grateful for phones, internet, video chat, and planes that make moving away a lot easier.

Everybody is welcome to come visit us anytime! Wish us luck on our great adventure!

We will keep you updated with stories and pictures!

WE GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE!!! NOW WHAT?!

WE DID IT!!!!

so after many year of all-nighters, homework, study groups, classes, professors, and a whole lot of hard work we have both graduated!!! We even got to sit right next to each other at graduation because we both majored in journalism. The whole fam drove up to Logan in a blizzard to celebrate with us! yea us! now what....
