We know, We're bad

We know, we know, we know. It has been a very long while. Too long, since we have updated our blog. I could use the excuse that we have been busy, which is minorly (how do you spell minorly) true, but really we just haven't updated. No good excuses. We apologize to the ten people that read our blog.

So, first things first, we updated our blog design. I know, BIG news. If you remember from a couple posts ago I promised Paul that since I did our last blog design pretty girly I would do our next blog design manly. I started doing a motorcycle theme and then he asked if there was a Utah State design...so here it is! (If you didn't notice I secretly threw in a flower in the corner, but it's blue so it doesn't count...and there's some polka dots, but just a few ;)).

oooo...fire!

Let's start with some history to catch you up to speed. (This is Corinne BTW)

First year of college, living in the dorms, my most favorite roommate and best friend...who we shall call Betsy to avoid potential embarrassment...decided she wanted to make french fries. So I leave for class with the with the most exciting prospect of having delicious homemade french fries when I return. However, upon my return, instead of being welcomed by a hot plate of french fries I am welcomed by a couple fireman carrying our couch out of our fried apartment.

compliments of www.liquidmatrix.org
Yes, our apartment caught on fire, and we became the proud tenants to test out the newly installed sprinkler system for the first time. What happened was a little oil from the pan dripped in the burner and caught fire. When Betsy realized that there was a fire she did the natural thing and grabbed a big bowl of water...oh wait...I mean baking soda...oh wait...nope, she grabbed the water. This naturally made a rather large fireball (For a visual reference see image above) which set our whole kitchen/living room on fire, set the sprinklers off to give us some flood damage, and sent Betsy running out the front door and taking a little ride in an ambulance. (For those of you who don't know, to avoid a similar occurence in your kitchen, if there is an oil fire, grab the BAKING SODA (see image below if you are wondering what baking soda looks like).

So, here I am, four years later, armed with my attained knowledge of how to put out fires. However, I seemed to have missed the part about how to prevent them.Yesterday I was cooking up a fabulous culinary masterpiece of pigs in a blanket using canned rolls, and corn from a can ( I was in a hurry, don't judge). I turned a burner on, set the pot of corn on it, and went to go change. While looking for my shoes I smelt something weird so I went to the kitchen. A nice scene of my hot pad in flames greeted me. So I screamed, ran to the sink, grabbed a dish full of water, threw it on the hot pad, threw the hot pad outside, and successfully put out the fire.

I guess I should've checked to make sure I turned on the right burner and not put the hot pad on the burner I actually turned on. (I think I might recall my mother trying to tell me not to set things on the stove while you are cooking because it could start a fire, but I'm not sure.)

(I would like to thank Betsy for giving me one of my most favorite college experiences, and many more.)

crazy weather

The Hurricane is coming our way! Yep, we are in the path of the first hurricane of the season, Hurricane Alex. I am kind of nervous because I have never experienced any sort of natural disaster in my life besides a blizzard...which really doesn't even count. Paul is excited. Typical :).

It is pretty crazy down here. Everyone is stocking up on the essentials and the grocery stores are pretty empty and pretty busy.  (that was a lot of "prettys") Businesses have boarded up their windows and everything is closed.

One perk I am enjoying as we speak is getting work off. All the schools decided to close down for the rest of the week and then Monday is a holiday so I get a six day payed vacation! The down side is that I can't really do anything out of the house because of the extreme weather conditions. Another down side is that everything is closed and therefore we can't go see Eclipse! Oh the tragedy!!! Hopefully they will open ASAP for us Twilight fans. ;)

Wish us luck surviving through the storm! Some people are freaking out and others are not even reacting and I have no idea what to think so we will see. Right now it is just raining ALOT and windy but the worst of it is suppose to be tonight. Hopefully our roof stays on, ha ha JK.

I'll see if I can catch pictures of the crazy rain! Any of you wanting a perfect kiss in the rain, now would be a good time to get one!

Pretty and Pink

I (Corinne) have been bored with our blog design and have been wanting to change it for a while now but I just couldn't find one that wasn't too girly (for Paul's sake) but still looked awesome. So after much contemplation I have decided to just give up, give in, and go all out girly (as you can see). I figure if I am going to make it a little girly I might as well go all the way and make it as feminine as possible, pink flowers and all. Do you like it?!

However this means that Paul and I made a deal that the next time we change our design it is going to be super masculine. He is thinking something with motorcycles. So enjoy the girly layout for now because next up is all boy! (It's a good thing we don't make our home decorating decisions the same way we make our blog decorating decisions ;) )

kitties and doggies and sharks, OH MY!

 First animal: Kitties!!!!
There are a couple stray cats at the hotel and one of them had kittens a couple weeks ago. So naturally, I have adopted them as my own till they go to their permanent

homes. I love them. They are so adorable. I hold them just about every day. They even get a long with Rad pretty well. Here are some pics of the furry little darlings.

Next up: Doggies...namely Rad!
Rad's is almost one year old! We are pretty excited to celebrate his birthday. We found out that he loves the beach. He especially loves chasing the birds, rolling in the sand, and being able to run as much as he wants.
We got some great pictures of him at the beach...this is my favorite... I call it "Man's Best Friend." I know, original.

Last of all: Sharks!

While enjoying our drive along the beach we came across a shark! These people were fishing right from the beach. They said they caught 5 sharks that day already. It freaked me out knowing there were sharks out there so close to the shore. the shark we saw them catch was 5'7" long.

A VERY MERRY BIRTHDAY PAUL!

HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY PAUL!
That's right, Paul is now 28. We had a rockin', sweet birthday celebration for him! First of all, I made a car cake that was a replica of his favorite car that he has owned, his red MR2. He ALWAYS talks about the good old days in his MR2 and how sweet it was so I thought I would bring back the memories. I ran out of red food coloring though so it ended up being more of a pink MR2 than a red one. I am also no master cake creater (like my stepmom Nancy) so it is not that amazing but it worked.

Then we went to Peter Piper Pizza to celebrate. It was just like we were kids again. We ordered pizza, bought a bunch of tokens, and played around on all the games. My favorite was ski-ball. That game is the BEST! Then we got the jackpot on this one weird game so we were able to get a bunch of sweet prizes that are basically worthless.

I got him two seasons of Rob and Big; that MTV show, so we watched that the rest of the night. It was awesome! He has a lot to live up to for my birthday in two months! Ha ha ha jk ;)...but seriously.
